Building a Power BI Dashboard

  • Build a dashboard

Confirm that the Entity Name is the connection between the data sets by clicking the connector line.  It should be a 1:1 Correspondance.

  • Go to the report view by clicking the Report Icon.

  • Add A new Line Chart.
  • Click in open area.
  • Click Line Chart.

  • Resize to fit about 1/2 the screen.

  • Production
  • Right Click on Entity and rename to API.  

  • Repeat for all tables.

  • Click all the sum data for the Y-Axis
  • Drag Time to the X-axis

  • Notice the Y-axis can be renamed by clicking on the variable.

  • Populate the remaining areas by sliding the correct visualization to the correct area.  The dashboard should look like the following.

Populate the Slicer under the Production Forecast

  • Select the slicer by clicking on it.
  • Click Time from the H and F Gas Prod

Populate the Table

  • Select the table by clicking on it.

For the Static Data Table select in order:

  1. Well Name
  2. API

From the Value Summary Select in order:

  1. Remaining Gas
  2. Value
  3. Percent of Total

Populate the Slicer under the Table

  • Select the slicer by clicking on it.
  • Click Percent of Total Value.

Populate the Slicer next to the Map

  • Click the slicer next to the map
  • Click Well Name

Populate the Map

  • Click on the map to select
  • Drag and drop Latitude and Longitude into the corresponding areas.

Add Cards to the line graph. 

  • Select the card icon.

  • Add two (2) cards to the white space.  
  • Move the cards to the top of the line graph.

  • For the first one, use Count of API and rename to Well Count.
  • For the second one, use Percent of Total Value and rename to % of Value.

Enable the map to be able to create an entity set

  • Move the map to the side.
  • Under the map place a table.
  • Use the API in the table.

The format of the table needs to be changed in order to enable entity creation.

  • Select Format Visual
  • Select General
  • Type in the name of the title as "SelectedEntities."

  • Place behind the map, hidden. 
  • Move the icons around until satisfied with the spacing.
